How to Enable Kiosk Auto Logout

Overview

The Auto Logout feature automatically signs a student out of the kiosk within 5 seconds after they complete the Quick Check-In process. This protects student privacy on shared devices by preventing one student's session from remaining active when the next student approaches.

This setting is configured per kiosk device from the Admin Panel.

Before You Begin

  • You must have the ConexED Administrator role to access the Admin Panel.
  • Auto Logout is most important for kiosks where Allow Quick Check-In is enabled.

Steps

  1. Click the gear icon in the top toolbar to open the Admin Panel.
  2. In the Admin Panel left menu, click Kiosks.
  3. Locate the kiosk device you want to configure.
  4. Click the pencil icon in the Actions column to open the Edit Kiosk settings.
  5. Scroll down to locate the Has Auto Logout toggle.
  6. Click the toggle to enable it. The toggle turns green, indicating Auto Logout is now active for this device.
  7. Click Save.

The kiosk will now automatically sign out students within 5 seconds after they complete Quick Check-In.

Things to Know

Auto Logout applies to Quick Check-In only. The Auto Logout feature triggers specifically after the Quick Check-In process is complete. Students who sign in with their Student ID and use other kiosk features, such as scheduling or viewing appointments, are not automatically signed out.

Students are still responsible for logging out during full sessions. For full kiosk sessions — where a student signs in with their Student ID and uses multiple features — staff should remind students to click the Logout button when finished. The Auto Logout feature does not cover these sessions.

Privacy best practice. Auto Logout is strongly recommended for any kiosk placed in a shared or high-traffic area where multiple students use the same device throughout the day.

Enabling per device. Auto Logout must be enabled separately for each kiosk device. If your campus has multiple kiosks, check each device individually.
