How to Enable Kiosk Auto Logout
Overview
Every kiosk shows a confirmation window when a student finishes checking in, with a ten-second countdown on an Exit Kiosk button. When the countdown reaches zero, the kiosk signs the student out and returns to the Welcome screen, ready for the next person.
Has Auto Logout decides whether the student can stop that countdown. With the setting on, they cannot — they can walk away and the kiosk resets itself. With it off, the window offers a Continue Using Kiosk button so the student can stay signed in and do something else, and they are expected to sign themselves out when finished.
This setting is configured per kiosk from the Admin Panel.

Things to Know
The countdown runs either way.
Turning Has Auto Logout off does not keep students signed in indefinitely. The ten-second countdown still appears and still signs them out at zero. The only difference is whether Continue Using Kiosk is offered alongside it.
Choose based on what the kiosk is for.
Turn it on for a check-in-only kiosk, where students arrive, check in and leave — nobody has to remember to sign out. Turn it off where students do more than check in, such as scheduling an appointment or searching for a staff member, so a ten-second countdown doesn't interrupt them.
The countdown applies to every check-in flow.
Quick Check-In, appointment check-in, queue check-in, resource check-in and tutoring check-in all use it. The confirmation message is worded differently for each.
There is a separate inactivity timeout.
If a student stops partway through without completing a check-in, the kiosk watches for inactivity. After five minutes with no activity, a window appears asking Are you still there? The student can click Still Here to stay signed in. If nobody responds, the kiosk signs out and returns to the Welcome screen. This is a different timer from the countdown after a check-in, and it applies no matter how Has Auto Logout is set.
Enable it per kiosk.
If your campus has several kiosks, check each one individually.
Privacy best practice.
On a kiosk in a shared or high-traffic area, turning Has Auto Logout on is the safer default — it removes the chance that one student's session is still open when the next person walks up.
