How to Identify a Reason Code as a VAR Reason Code, California (Video Tutorial)
Users with ConexED Administrator, Institutional Administrator, or Department Director roles can update a master reason code via the Scheduling Control Center to identify for VAR Reporting.
In Summer of 2025, an ConexED feature was released that simplifies the collection process for data aligned with the Vision Aligned Reporting (VAR) initiative in the state of California. There is now a checkbox within the editing features of a master reason code that allows users to identify that reason code as aligned with VAR. This tutorial explains this step by step process.
11 STEPS
1. There is an option to support Vision Aligned Reporting data collection efforts within each reason code. Navigate to the Scheduling tab and click to open.
2. Click to open the Scheduling Control Center.
3. Navigate to the Reason Codes tab and click to open.
4. Navigate to the reason code category that aligns with your VAR reporting requirements. Click Manage Reason Codes to open.
5. Navigate to the reason code that needs to be identified as a VAR code for reporting and click Edit to open.
6. Scroll to the checkbox with "This is a VAR reason code" and click to select.
7. Click Save.
8. Repeat these steps for any reason codes, in any category, that need to be identified for VAR reporting requirements.
9. To view VAR reporting data, navigate to the Business Intelligence tab, and click to open.
10. Scroll down and click VAR Dashboard to open. The dashboard provides various filters to allow for data viewing and disaggregation with specific focus on identified VAR Reason Codes.
11. Please note, should you need the data in different formats, the data visuals provided in the VAR dashboard are reflective of the data provided in the table-based reason-code reports generated via the Scheduling Control Center, or at the group level.
