How to use a Display Toggle Field in a CRM Registration Form (Tutorial)

31 STEPS

1. This tutorial demonstrates how to use the Display Toggle Field. To begin, navigate to CRM & Cohort Center and click to open. Next, click Registration Forms.

2. The page opens on the Form Submission Tab. Locate the Manage Forms tab, and click to open.

3. Locate the existing form by its title that can be found in the first column of the table. Click Edit to open it.

4. Display Toggle Fields dynamically show follow-up questions based on the answer selected, so users only answer what actually applies to them.

5. If the data is required, check the box to select. Please note: A user cannot submit a form if a required question is not completed.

6. The Label field holds the question or prompt. Click in the field and type.

7. Leave the Display Field ID blank, and complete the first option field. The Affected Display ID can match this text exactly or be modified — it triggers the question's display when selected. Here, both are 'Yes.

8. Click to add Option 2 and complete the Affected display id for each option. Continue this process until all options are presented.

9. Next, select the type of field to use for the question that will display based on the option the user selects. This example uses Radio Group fields for the subsequent questions that will populate. Click to select.

10. Do not select required. This particular question will not display for all users, so it cannot be a required question. The Label field holds the question or prompt. Click in the field and complete the label.

11. Complete the first option field. Copy the text exactly from the first option into the field next to it that reads Option-1. Add and complete fields as needed.

12. To delete unnecessary options, use the red x.

13. To complete the Display Field ID enter the exact text from the previous question's option 1 affected display id field. In this tutorial's example it was the word Yes.

14. Next, select the type of field to use for the subsequent question that will display based on the other option the user selects.

15. Display Toggle is most commonly and reliably used with the standard input fields: Text Field, Radio Group, Checkbox Group, Select, Text Area, File Upload, and Phone & SMS Opt-in. It can not be used with the Form Step Section field.

16. This example uses Radio Group fields for all subsequent questions that will populate. It is very common for the subsequent questions to be configured in the same format. Click to select the field type.

17. Do not select required. This particular question will not display for all users, so it cannot be a required question. The Label field holds the question or prompt. Click in the field and complete the label.

18. Complete the first option field. Copy the text exactly from the first option into the field next to it that reads Option-1.

19. Move on to option 2, and repeat.

20. Add and complete fields as needed.

21. To complete the Display Field ID enter the exact text from the previous question's option 2 affected display id field. In this tutorial's example it was the word No.

22. Click SAVE.

23. Click Preview

24. A new tab will open with the form in preview. Click next to move through the form sections.

25. Here, the initial question, built with the Display Toggle Field, is displayed. As you can see the option 1, Yes and Option 2, No are displayed as potential answers to the question.

26. When the user selects the first option, Yes,

27. The desired subsequent question displays for the user to complete.

28. When the user selects the second option, No,

29. The desired subsequent question displays for the user to complete.

30. Display Toggle Fields streamline the form completion process for the user and ensure that all necessary data is collected via the CRM Registration Form completion.

31. That's it. You're done.
