How to Start a Zoom Meeting From the Virtual Lobby

This article applies to the following role permissions: ConexED Administrator - Department Director - Group Manager - Faculty/Staff

After successfully connecting your Zoom account with ConexED, you can use Zoom for virtual meetings that are started in the Lobby. When using the "+" sign to invite students to a private one-on-one virtual meeting from the Lobby, staff members will have the option to select either Zoom or ConexED Cafe as the platform for hosting their virtual meeting. 

 

  1. When a student joins the Lobby and you need to start a private one-on-one virtual meeting, you can easily initiate it by clicking on the small "+" sign on the student's card

    or by clicking the green "+" sign at the top of your screen while in a Lobby Chat with the student

  2. After clicking either of the "+" signs, a popup will appear asking you to Choose a Meeting Location. This is where staff members will have the option to select either Zoom or ConexED:

  3. Once you have selected "Zoom",  a new browser tab will open, allowing you to enter your Zoom meeting through the Zoom app:

Once you have clicked "Open zoom.us" in the popup or the blue "Launch Meeting" button, your Zoom desktop application will open to the virtual meeting. You also have the option to join the virtual meeting through ConexED, which will open a virtual cafe meeting as usual.
